Adnan is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (PIPFA). He is amongst the founder partners of the firm and is the lead partner for indirect tax and business advisory practice of the firm.

Adnan possesses over 8 years experience in the field of handling issues relating to Customs, Central Excise and Sales Tax (VAT). Until 2002, he served as Manager in the Indirect Tax Practice of KPMG Taseer Hadi & Co., Chartered Accountants, member firm of KPMG International, where he looked after the tax advisory and consulting matters.

He has been engaged in tax advisory in respect of the following:

	Assisting the clients in cases involving interpretation of law, procedures and documentation in the light of Sales Tax Act, 1990, Provincial Sales Tax Ordinances, 2000 and Excisable Services taxed under the Sales Tax Law.
	Supervision of assignments involving System Evaluation of Sales Tax (Tax Audits) which includes preparation of audit reports and recommending suggestions for the improvements in the control system and reporting framework.
	Formulating tax beneficial strategies and VAT (Value Added Tax) Planning.
	Replying departmental audit observations on behalf of the clients and contesting appeals before the Office of Collector (Adjudication), Collector (Appeals) and Customs, Excise & Sales Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT).
	Representing clients before Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee (ADRC) constituted by Central Board of Revenue under section 47A of Sales Tax Act, 1990

In the past, Adnan also supervised the field part of Sales Tax Reforms & Administration Project outlined by the Task Force constituted by the Government of Pakistan for Tax Reforms.

Adnan regularly writes for leading professional / legal journals and newspapers of the country. His articles on indirect taxation laws have been published in “Business Recorder”, TAXATION, GST Journal, TAX FORUM and official journals of the ICAP and ICMAP. His paper has also been included in ‘Law & Practice of Sales Tax', a book by Huzaima Bukhari and Dr. Ikramul Haq, Pakistan eminent lawyers.

He has attended various national conferences / seminars on corporate and tax laws. He also participated in Value Added Tax (VAT) Training Session organised by Asia Pacific Region of KPMG in Colombo , Sri Lanka .

Adnan has presented papers on sales tax law and accounting standards in seminars organised by the Corporate and Taxation Law Society, Institute of Corporate Secretaries of Pakistan and ICAP respectively. He is a Member of Publication Committee of ICAP and Chairman of Technical & Research Committee of Karachi Sales Tax Bar Association (KSTBA). He is also a member of Income Tax Bar Association, Karachi .

He is also a member of Karachi Gymkhana, Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi and COMMECS (Old Boys Association of Government College of Commerce & Economics, Karachi ).
